MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes agreed to a three-year contract with offensive lineman Luc Brodeur-Jourdain on Friday.

The six-foot-three, 326-pound native of Saint-Hyacinthe, Que., was scheduled to become a free agent in February.

An '08 sixth-round draft pick from Laval, Brodeur-Jourdain became Montreal's starting centre in 2010 and has been part of two Grey Cup-winning teams (2009-'10).

"Luc is a very important signing for us," Montreal GM and head coach Jim Popp said in a statement. "He's the quarterback of the offensive line.

"What the public doesn't see is the amount of hours he logs on a weekly basis to not only prepare himself but the other offensive linemen. He is a great leader and always leads by example."

Brodeur-Jourdain, 30, was a CFL all-star in '12 and last season was voted Montreal's top offensive lineman.
