That was what I thought too.  If so it is interesting to listen to what Steven Wilson said about speaker placement...he basically puts them where they typically go in a ht environment when he is recording and mixing. He doesn't put a lot of emphasis on it and isn't sure if there is a right way.  This is the guy who makes the most stunning mixes in existence.  To be safe if you can get the same speakers and put them equidistant you are all good to go.  ITU standards are probably best but who wants a tower for a center and two more for the rears?  If the room you are in doesn't allow it then bookshelf sized rears seem to work as nearfield they seem psychoacoustically the same as bigger speakers (depending on quality of course) if your delays and such are set properly.  That and an spl meter?
