VANCOUVER — Cory Schneider will start in goal for Vancouver as the Canucks host the St. Louis Blues tonight.
Schneider returns to the Vancouver lineup after watching the past four games from the bench as Roberto Luongo's backup. The Canucks went 2-2 in that span and surrendered first place in the Northwest Division to the Minnesota Wild.
Schneider was ticketed as Vancouver's starting goaltender this season after he displaced Luongo in the No. 1 role during last spring's Stanley Cup playoffs.
But the Canucks did not trade Luongo as expected in the off-season, and the two goaltenders have shared the duties in the lockout-shortened season.
Meanwhile, winger Zack Kassian will return to the lineup after sitting out losses against Detroit and Minnesota with a sore back.
Rookie goaltender Jake Allen will make his fourth-straight start for the Blues. St. Louis is riding a three-game win streak with Allen, who has split this season between the minors and the NHL.
