The Eastern Conference playoff race may come down to the final day of the Ontario Hockey League season.
Stephen Pierog scored twice, including the winner, as the Peterborough Petes edged the host Kingston Frontenacs 5-4 in overtime on Friday.
The victory is Peterborough's fourth in a row and jumps them two spots into seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Petes have 59 points while the Mississauga Steelheads and Kingston are tied in eighth with 58. The Steelheads, who are winless in 10 games, will face the 67's in Ottawa on Saturday while Kingston hosts Ottawa on Sunday. Peterborough's final game of the season is also on Sunday when they head to Brampton to face the Battalion.
Nick Czinder and Nick Ritchie each had a goal and an assist for the Petes (26-34-7) while Brett Findlay added a single goal.
Billy Jenkins and Ryan Kujawinski had a goal and an assist apiece for the Frontenacs (26-35-6), who are winless in three outings, and Cody Alcock and Darcy Greenaway each scored once.
Michael Giugovaz made 26 saves for Peterborough as Kingston's Mike Morrison stopped 33-of-38 shots in defeat.
Both clubs went 0 for 1 on the power play.
Elsewhere in the OHL, it was; Owen Sound 4, Sarnia 3; Kitchener , Saginaw 1; Brampton 5, Barrie 3; Guelph 2, Erie 1 (OT); Belleville 3, Mississauga 0; Oshawa 6, Ottawa 5 (SO) and Sudbury 5, Niagara 1.
At Kingston, Ont., Czinder and Kujawinski traded first-period goals as the game headed to first intermission tied 1-1.
Alcock scored 2:53 into the second to give Kingston its first lead, however Findlay squared up the game less than three minutes later.
Greenaway restored the lead for the Frontenacs, but Pierog and Ritchie came back late in the period for Peterborough to make it 4-3 Petes after 40 minutes of play.
Jenkins tied the game for the fourth time with a goal at 8:26 of the third before Pierog scored the winner 3:12 into overtime.

At Mississauga, Ont., Malcolm Subban earned his fifth shutout of the season by making 20 saves and Jake Cardwell and Daniil Zharkov each had a goal and an assist as Belleville (43-16-8) handed the Steelheads (25-34-8) their 10th loss in a row.

At Ottawa, Brian Hughes and Lucas Lessio scored in the shootout and Lessio added another in regulation as Oshawa (41-22-4) held on to defeat the 67's (16-44-6), who trailed 5-2 in the third period before forcing extra time.

At Sudbury, Ont., Nicholas Baptiste scored twice and Brody Silk had four assists as the Wolves (29-26-11) halted their three-game slide by defeating Niagara (30-33-4), which has dropped their last three contests.
