Nathan Cull and the Kingston Frontenacs finally found their stride Thursday.

Cull scored a pair of goals and Ryan Spooner chipped in with a goal and an assist as the Frontenacs skated to a 5-3 win over the Brampton Battalion in Ontario Hockey League action on Thursday.

Cull opened the scoring at 8:10 of the first period and added his second of the game at the 2:11 mark of the second to help Kingston to its first victory of the season.

"Getting our first win is pretty big for us," said Cull. "We just need to learn to start playing three solid periods each game and we'll be set for a good year."

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Mississauga 6 Niagara 4; Peterborough 5 Belleville 4; Windsor 3 Saginaw 2 and Owen Sound 2 Barrie 1 (SO).

At Brampton, Ont., Derek Froats and Jeff Braithwaite also scored for Kingston (1-3-0), while Spencer Green and Jean Dupuy each contributed a pair of assists. Igor Bobkov made 31 saves.

Mitchell Porowski, Ian Watters and Sam Carrick replied for Brampton (1-2-0). Matej Machovsky allowed four goals on 17 shots before being pulled in favour of Keegan Wilson.

At St. Catharines, Ont., Riley Brace scored three goals as Mississauga (3-0-0) downed Niagara (0-2-0) 6-4.

At Peterborough, Ont., Matt Puempel scored the winner in the second period and the Petes (2-0-1) came back from a two-goal deficit to beat Belleville (1-2-0).

At Windsor, Ont., Kerby Rychel scored two goals, including the game winner, as the Spitfires (1-2-0) defeated Saginaw (1-1-0).

At Barrie, Ont., Artur Gavrus scored the shootout winner as Owen Sound (3-1-0) edged the Colts (2-0-1).
