The Saginaw Spirit kept their impressive winning streak going at the expense of the two-time defending Memorial Cup champions.

Jordan Szwarz scored his second and third goals of the season to help the Spirit to a 5-2 victory over the Windsor Spitfires in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

Marvic Parks made 38 saves as the Spirit, ranked seventh in the Canadian Hockey League, extended their winning streak to five games.

The Spitfires, who have won the Canadian junior title two years running, have struggled to start this OHL season with four losses in seven games.

Elsewhere in the OHL, Plymouth hammered Peterborough 7-0 and Brampton came back to beat Kingston 5-4.

At Windsor, Ont., the Spirit exploded for three goals in just over two minutes midway through the second period on Szwarz's pair and Michael Kantor's first goal of the season.

Vincent Trochek scored into an empty net for Saginaw late in the third period. Matt Ashman had the other goal for Saginaw (5-1-0).

Alexander Khokhlachev scored both goals for Windsor (3-4-0) while Zack Kassian chipped in with a pair of assists, giving Buffalo's first-round pick six points in two games since returning from the Sabres' training camp last week.

Jack Campbell made 29 saves for Windsor.

Whalers 7 Petes 0

At Peterborough, Ont., Jamie Devane scored twice and added Alex Aleardi his league-leading eighth goal as Plymouth hammered the Petes.
