When the Calgary Flames take the ice for their home opener Sunday against the Kings, they'll be doing it at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The building, originally built in 1983 for the 1988 Winter Olympics, had been called the Penngrowth Saddledome since 2000.

"The
Calgary Flames are honored and proud that Scotiabank, one of the nation's oldest and most respected financial institutions has chosen to partner in the Scotiabank Saddledome," said Flames President and CEO Ken King. "It's much more than a name on a building. It is a total and mutual commitment to co-branding and marketing two of Canada's best, in banking and in hockey. A dynamic partnership excited about the future of our city, our province and our country."

Scotiabank also is attached to the home of the
Ottawa Senators, Scotiabank Place.
