BOWMANVILLE, Ont. -- Kerry Micks wasn't even supposed to be here. And he wound up collecting his fourth career pole position.
Micks, who is splitting time in the No. 02 Leland/BDI/Dickies Dodge with Mark Dilley, was a late minute substitute for Saturday's NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. Dilley was sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Micks went out and qualified on the pole with a lap of 21.722 seconds around the half-mile oval for 82.865 mph. He'll be joined on the front row for Saturday night's Clarington 200 by last week's series winner Peter Shepherd.
Shepherd qualified at 21.728 (82.842). J.R. Fitzpatrick was third at 21.796 (82.584).
Scott Steckly, who was fastest in practice, qualified fourth and Steve Mathews fifth.
Ron Beauchamp Jr., Larry Jackson, Jeff Lapcevich, L.P. Dumoulin, and DJ Kennington rounded out the top 10.
Green flag for the Clarington 200 is scheduled for 7 p.m.
