Music: {allcanada} PRACTICE: Steckly Fastest At Canadian Tire

BOWMANVILLE, Ont. -- Scott Steckly post a quick lap early in Saturday's practice on the oval at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and it stood up to be the top time of the day for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1.

Steckly's time of 21.511 seconds (83.678 mph) around the half-mile came on his 11th lap and in the first 15 minutes of the 45-minute session. Practice for the Clarington 200 was abbreviated because of rain that rolled through the area mid-morning.

In the final minutes of practice, JR Fitzpatrick (21.683/83.014) and DJ Kennington (21.696/82.965) made a charge but settled for second and third fastest, respectively.

Ron Beauchamp Jr. and Peter Shepherd rounded out the top five.

Jason Hathaway was sixth, followed by Kerry Micks, Jeff Lapcevich, L.P. Dumoulin and rookie Alex Guenette.

Qualifying for the Clarington 200 is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., with the green flag still set for 7 p.m.
