{allcanada} Wheel In the DeLorean: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd & Lea Thompson Rev Up a Back to the Future Reunion at Silicon Valley Comic Con

Back to the Future: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd & Lea Thompson Reunite

They've gone back (and forth) to the future, and now the gang's all back together.

Cinephiles got a nostalgia-inducing treat over the weekend when
Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson had a rollicking Back to the Future reunion at the Silicon Valley Comic Con in San Jose, California, where they signed autographs, caught up with each other and reminisced about their time-hopping escapades. (Once more, with feeling: "1.21 gigawatts!")

And yes, even the DeLorean was there for fans to snap a picture with.

"Kids just buy into it like their parents did," Fox, 54, said of the enduring classic, which,
30 years later, has snagged a new generation of fans. "It's a perennial thing. It's like the Wizard of Oz, and I used to watch it on TV."

In fact, the film has become a staple in Thompson's family, too. "My mother-in-law watches it with her daughter, and her daughter's daughter and her daughter, so four generations of Deutch girls watch Back to the Future," Thompson, 54, said at the San Jose Convention Center.

Not only that, the film has provided another link between Thompson and her family.

"You know my daughter is working with that same costume designer right now," she said, referring to costume designer Deborah Scott, who – aside from the period-perfect duds she created for the film – also dreamed up the frothy prom dress Thompson wore in the climactic
Enchantment Under the Sea finale for the first film.

"Deborah Scott designed her dress, which I think is so cool," she said of her look-alike daughter,
actress Zoey Deutch. "I wish she was here."

The crew shared more than a few laughs looking back at the shoot and their favorite moments. Lloyd, 77, said he has a soft spot for the third film ("It was a Western. Who doesn't like a Western? Horseback riding, a steam engine, Doc had a romance!"), while Thompson cracked that in the film, "I was just horny in the middle of it all," no doubt referencing her character's squirm-worthy bid for Marty McFly's affection.

(Fox and Lloyd flashed a shocked look at Thompson, before the trio burst into laughter.)

But when asked whether she'd like to travel back in time, and to what era, Thompson was firm and forthright.

"I'm a woman, I want to be right here, right now. I want to make the same amount of money as a man, so that's my answer," she said.

Fox, meanwhile, offered his take on what the movie's crystal-ball predictions got right.

"All I can say is the movie predicted my receding hairline," he quipped, adding that he actually owns a pair of the sleek, self-lacing sneakers that figured prominently in the 1989 sequel.

"I actually have a pair of those lace-up shoes," he offered. "Comes in handy for a person with Parkinson's."

The actor also spoke candidly about living with the disease, telling the crowd that he tries to take things "every day at a time."

"You know, I was diagnosed back in 1991, and that was a long time ago. And it's been hard, because this is a progressive disease and things just get harder," he explained. "I just try to get around it. Sounds corny, but if you have a worst-case scenario, this is it. So I take every day at a time. I deal with the difficulties one at a time. I look at myself in the mirror and say, 'What are you smiling about?' You just have to stay strong."

As for whether the actor might be willing to slip back into Marty McFly's signature red jacket for a fourth Back to the Future film? Fox says he hasn't gotten wind of a new outing.

"Not that I know of," he explained. "There's
a musical in England, that's a pretty good musical. I'd be surprised if they did do another, if they'd come looking for us."

Then again, as Back to the Future fans have come to expect, there are always surprises lurking in fictional Hill Valley. Just be sure to keep that sports almanac away from Biff.
