DUCKS (40-22-9) at CANADIENS (33-34-6)
TV: RDS, SNE, PRIME, FS-SD, NHL.TV
Season series: Anaheim Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg scored the deciding goal in a 3-2 shootout win against the Montreal Canadiens at Honda Center on March 2. Anaheim goalie John Gibson turned aside each of Montreal's three attempts in the tie-breaker after making 25 saves through overtime. Forward Jamie McGinn scored in his Ducks debut, and forward Corey Perry's third-period goal erased Montreal's second one-goal lead. Forward Alex Galchenyuk scored twice for the Canadiens.
Ducks team scope: Anaheim is without left wing David Perron, who returned to Southern California on Monday to have an MRI on his injured right shoulder. Perron sustained the injury when he slammed into the boards Sunday while attempting to check Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets in the Ducks' 3-2 overtime win that began their five-game Canadian road trip. "I don't know how bad it is, but I assume it's week-to-week," Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau told the Orange County Register after practice at the Canadiens' training facility Monday. Perron had eight goals and 20 points in 28 games with the Ducks since he was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in a Jan. 16 trade. Boudreau could not say whether he would be available for the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Forward Mike Santorelli will play after being a healthy scratch the past three games.
Canadiens team scope: Joel Hanley became the 13th defenseman to play for Montreal this season Sunday when he made his NHL debut after he was recalled from St. John's of the AHL on an emergency basis. The Canadiens did not practice Monday after a 4-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. "To create offense, you need a good transition," Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said Sunday. "Our transition, under the circumstances, is struggling. There are a lot of broken plays. We're having a lot of trouble attacking the neutral zone with speed and we're often stopped. Our transition game is suffering a lot right now." There were 11 players sidelined by injury Sunday, including forward Sven Andrighetto (upper body) and defenseman Victor Bartley (lower body).
