{allcanada} Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour announces Year 2 schedule

With hockey fans eager to celebrate the beginning of a new season, Canada's ultimate hockey festival is set for another season-long, cross-country celebration as Rogers unveils the 24 communities that will host the 2015-16 Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour, presented by Scotiabank and Dodge.

Starting in Kitchener, Ont., and finishing in Winnipeg, Man., this year's celebration promises to be bigger and better, while highlighting the best of each town and exploring its deep hockey roots.

NHL alumni, hometown heroes and local entertainment will appear at each stop along the way, while Tara Slone is back as the sideline reporter throughout the season. And of course, Ron MacLean returns to deliver unique hockey stories inside the Sportsnet Mobile Studio every Sunday.

"Each weekend is a uniquely Canadian experience that brings us all together, said MacLean. "Our mantra has been simple – take you someplace and tell a story. We've discovered at each stop a story that belongs to us as no other story could. It's of Canadians, with hockey at its core."

The pre-game show, intermission and post-game will continue to feature NHL alumni, special guests, Sportsnet personalities and will include features on local NHL players and grassroots stories.

Each destination on the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour will deliver a jam-packed weekend of free outdoor activities in the heart of each community that celebrates all things hockey. Fan favourites such as Sportsnet Be a Broadcaster, Scotiabank Community Locker Room and Dodge Stow 'n Go Challenge will be back, and there will be new GamePlus experiences that will take you behind the scenes and bring you closer to the stars of the game.

Season 2 starts by hitting the streets of Kitchener for a special three-day Thanksgiving weekend celebration beginning Friday, Oct. 9 through to Sunday, Oct. 11.

On Sunday, Juno award-winning rock band Barenaked Ladies will perform a new single "Duct Tape Heart" from their latest album, Silverball. This performance will lead into the first Rogers Hometown Hockey broadcast of the season featuring the Ottawa Senators hosting the Montreal Canadiens at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sportsnet.

So be sure to tune in to a brand new season that celebrates the great game of hockey and explores how it ties our great country together at a grassroots level from sea to sea.
