OTTAWA -- The Florida Panthers kept their hopes for a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs alive and damaged the Ottawa Senators' chances with a 4-2 victory at Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday.

Dan Ellis made 25 saves, Jaromir Jagr, scored twice, and Jussi Jokinen and David Bolland also had goals for the Panthers (35-26-15). Florida stayed four points behind the Boston Bruins, who hold the second wild card into the playoffs from the Eastern Conference. Boston beat the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 in overtime.

Defenseman Erik Karlsson had his 20th goal of the season and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Senators (37-26-12), who have lost three in a row for the first time since Feb. 3-7. The Senators fell three points behind Boston and lead Florida by one point.

Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said after an overtime loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday that Roberto Luongo would be in goal against the Senators, but Ellis got the start with Luongo backing him up.

Craig Anderson started for the second straight game for the Senators and made 33 saves. Andrew Hammond, who was injured against the San Jose Sharks on Monday, lost to the New York Rangers on Thursday and did not dress against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, served as the backup against Florida.

Karlsson scored a power-play goal at 4:43 of the third period to cut the Panthers' lead to 2-1. His wrist shot from the blue line found its way through a screen set by Senators forward Clarke MacArthur.

Jagr scored his second of the game at 13:57 to make it 3-1, but Pageau scored on a pass by Mike Hoffman at 17:39 to make it a one-goal game again. Ottawa got a power play with 1:23 remaining in regulation when Tomas Kopecky was called for high sticking, and Ottawa pulled Anderson to make it a 6-on-4 advantage. But Bolland sealed the win when he scaled the puck from his own zone into the empty net for Florida's first shorthanded goal of the season.

The Panthers scored two power-play goals in the second period, each with Senators defenseman Eric Gryba in the penalty box.

Jagr scored his 14th goal of the season and the 719th of his career at 7:46 with a nice cutback move on defenseman Marc Methot. He cut to his forehand and fired a low shot past Anderson.

Jokinen scored his eighth of the season at 15:49 to make it 2-0. He was left alone in the slot, took a pass from Bolland and beat Anderson with a shot high to the glove side.

With his two goals, Jagr trails Marcel Dionne by 11 for fourth place on the all-time goal-scoring list.
