The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have revealed plans for the team's celebration of the Final Season of Ivor Wynne Stadium presented by Tim Hortons.
Throughout the season, the Ticats and participating Tim Hortons locations throughout TigerTown will celebrate the rich history and tradition of one of the most renowned facilities in Canadian sports history and the players that helped contribute to its legend.
"While we look forward to the completion of our new world-class stadium in 2014, we will ensure that the final season of Ivor Wynne is celebrated from the opening kickoff on June 29 until the closing ceremonies on October 27," said Tiger-Cats President Scott Mitchell.
The Ticats will introduce an initiative to determine the greatest players to ever suit up for the black and gold. In June, fans will have the chance to vote for their favourite players as part of the All-Time Tiger-Cats team. A selection committee comprised of alumni, media and fans have narrowed the field down to approximately 120 individuals. The season-long initiative will present fans with the opportunity to select the 28 members of the all-time team and win great prizes. The All-Time Tiger-Cats will be presented at a special ceremony at the regular season finale on October 27. Further details regarding the All-Time Tiger-Cats team will be provided in the near future.
Legendary Ticats players will be present at each game to participate in autograph signings, in-game interviews, and more. Tickets to each game will feature some of the most memorable moments the stadium has seen, including Paul Osbaldiston's winning field goal in the 1998 East Final, Earl Winfield's brilliant Labour Day performance that saw him score three touchdowns in three different ways, the Ticats 1972 Grey Cup championship on home turf, and more.
The final regular season game will be an event that should not be missed. In addition to the presentation of the All-Time Tiger-Cats team, the stadium finale will feature a postgame closing ceremony that will send the stadium off fittingly. All fans in attendance will also receive a commemorative keepsake to hold their ticket to the final game. Additional information regarding the finale will be unveiled later this season.
