TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec, Canada – The Dumoulin Competition Racing team announces its major partnership between racer Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and WeatherTech Canada for the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire season. The deal will allow the 2011 series Rookie of the Year to compete fulltime in 2012.
"What a pleasure it is to be in a partnership with WeatherTech. Their visions and values join mine and those of Dumoulin Competition," said Dumoulin.
WeatherTech Canada designs, develops and produces high-quality digitally custom-fitted floor liners, all-weather floor mats, cargo liners and no-drill mud flaps. They use the newest technology available to meet the needs of any vehicle, floor surface, storage area, aisles and window openings.
"We at WeatherTech Canada are very excited to be partnering with Dumoulin Competition and look forward to a great race season. L.P.'s racing experience and enthusiasm makes him the perfect addition to the WeatherTech team," said Tony Page, President of WeatherTech Canada.
Dumoulin Competition now transitions from a part-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series team to being represented at every event on the schedule. This requires a more specialized support team for car preparation, so they have aligned themselves with Scott Steckly, the defending series champion.
"After three years of participating in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on a limited basis, we are ready to take a run at the championship. We are also aware of the fact that we cannot achieve this alone. The No. 47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge will be prepared out of the shop of Scott Steckly," Dumoulin said.
Dumoulin, a road-circuit specialist and instructor, participated in the final three events of the 2011 season, all on ovals, to clinch the rookie honors. Previously, Dumoulin had not competed on an oval track in a stock car.
"Last year, the car we had was adapted from our road-course car which isn't ideal," said the Quebecer. "Now, we'll have a car specifically designed and set up for oval competition."
Dumoulin's older brother, Jean-Francois – a road-course specialist himself and proud supporter of his brother – will compete in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series events in Trois-Rivieres and Montreal, as well.
"Since 2009, we have worked very hard to find funds that would allow us to do a complete season in this series. This is the result of endless dedicated work," said the elder brother.
The younger Dumoulin is set to participate in the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season opener, the Vortex Brake Pads 200 as part of the Victoria Day SpeedFest presented by Castrol Edge on May 19-20 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, formerly Mosport International Raceway, in Bowmanville, Ont.
