{allcanada} Eskimos release Peterson, import Zabransky

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Eskimos have released veteran receiver Kamau Peterson and import quarterback Jared Zabransky.

Peterson, who was the CFL's most outstanding Canadian in 2008, was limited to just four games last season with an recurring Achilles injury.

Peterson has 522 receptions for 6,743 yards and 28 touchdowns in 154 career regular season games with Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and Hamilton.

"The decision to part ways with a 10-year veteran is never easy," Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed said in a release Wednesday.

"Kamau has given a lot to this organization and through his charitable efforts has made a positive impact in our community. We wish Kamau and his family every success in the future."

Zabransky had just two starts with Edmonton in two seasons. He finished last year with 53 completions for 609 yards, four touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also posted 28 carries for 209 yards and one touchdown.
