Nobody will wear the No. 12 shirt for the Portland Thorns again.
The team announced on Wednesday that Christine Sinclair's iconic jersey will be retired on Oct. 4 ahead of a game with Bay FC.
Sinclair, 42, spent 11 seasons with the Thorns and retired after the 2024 season.
During her time with the team, the Thorns won three NWSL Championships (2013, 2017 and 2022), two NWSL Shields (2016 and 2021), the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup, the 2021 Women's International Champions Cup and the 2020 Fall Series.
The Burnaby, BC native appeared in 200 league games for the team, scoring 66 goals and setting up another 17. Sinclair notched 79 goals across all competitions, making her the Thorns' all-time leading scorer. Sinclair also holds the franchise marks for games played (237), started (215), minutes played (18,579) and goals from the spot (10). her 19 assists are third-most in club history.
Internationally, Sinclair holds the all-time goals mark by a male or female with 190. She led Canada to gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Thorns currently sit fourth in the table on 30 points from 20 games, level on points with third-place Gotham FC.
