{allcanada} Canadiens’ Suzuki officially makes team, Poehling assigned to AHL

The Montreal Canadiens have assigned centre Ryan Poehling to the AHL, the club announced Tuesday.

With Poehling off to Laval, forward Nick Suzuki and defender Cale Fleury have both officially made the big club out of training camp.

Poehling, 20, joined the organization as the club's 25th-overall pick of the 2017 draft. The Lakeville, Minn., native made headlines with a sterling hat-trick debut for the Canadiens in 2018-19, and is expected to be back in the big leagues soon enough, according to Sportsnet's Eric Engels.

Suzuki, the 13th-overall pick in that same draft, was originally selected by the Vegas Golden Knights. The 20-year-old was traded to Montreal (along with forward Tomas Tatar and a 2019 second-round pick) in the deal that sent ex-captain Max Pacioretty to Vegas. He's impressed the Canadiens faithful all camp after a dominant 2018-19 OHL season in which he posted 94 points in 59 games split between the Owen Sound Attack and Guelph Storm.

Fleury, drafted in the third round in 2017, spent the 2018-19 campaign with AHL Laval, posting 23 points through 60 games for the minor-league team.
