{allcanada} Canucks sign defenceman Josh Teves to one-year deal

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenceman Josh Teves to a one-year entry-level contract.

The 24-year-old Calgary native had 85 points in 126 career games over four seasons with the Princeton University Tigers.

Princeton was eliminated from the NCAA hockey playoffs by Brown University on Saturday.

Teves put up seven goals and 26 assists in 31 games for the Tigers this season, leading the squad's defencemen in scoring and all NCAA blueliners in points per game (1.06).

The six-foot, 180-pound defenceman has also played a single season for the Merritt Centennials in the B.C. Hockey League.

"He has good vision and play making ability and can contribute in all three zones," Canucks general manager Jim Benning said in a statement. "We're excited to see him play at the professional level."
