{allcanada} Senators, Penguins reworking trade deal for Derick Brassard

The complicated trade between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators seems to be getting more complex by the minute.

According to Sportsnet insiders Nick Kypreos and Elliotte Friedman, the teams are reworking the details of Friday's reported deal to send Derick Brassard from Ottawa to Pittsburgh via the Vegas Golden Knights.

The full list of pieces involved in the transaction have been unclear up until this point, as is the NHL's reasoning for rejecting this deal.

Brassard has registered 18 goals and 20 assists through 58 games this season, and aligns with the Penguins' desire for scoring depth at centre as they chase a third straight Stanley Cup title. The 30-year-old has one full season remaining on his five-year, $25-million deal and brings with him a cap hit of $5 million.
