CANUCKS (9-8-6) at STARS (17-5-0)

TV: NHLN, FS-SW, SNP

Season series: The Dallas Stars overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to defeat the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 in overtime on Oct. 29. Jamie Benn assisted on Patrick Sharp's tying goal and scored the winner at 2:28 of overtime.

Canucks team scope: Vancouver opened a four-game road trip with a 3-2 win against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday. It was the first time in 11 games the Canucks held an opponent to fewer than three goals. They will be tested by the high-scoring Stars, who are second in the NHL at 3.55 goals per game. "If we have all 20 guys going and can take away their top guys' time and space, we'll be fine," forward Alexandre Burrows said. Rookie Jake Virtanen, who often has been left on the bench when the Canucks are protecting a lead, skated as an extra forward in practice Thursday. Coach Willie Desjardins would not confirm changes, but it appeared Sven Baertschi will play after watching as a healthy scratch in Minnesota. Goalie Ryan Miller, who has an .875 save percentage his past 10 games against the Stars, might not play. The Canucks are trying to manage the 35-year-old's workload.

Stars team scope: Dallas placed goaltender Kari Lehtonen (upper body) on injured reserve Thursday after he left early in the third period of a 7-4 loss against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. Antti Niemi will be in goal against the Canucks. The Stars called up goalie Jack Campbell from Texas of the American Hockey League; with a game at the Minnesota Wild on Saturday and another back-to-back during a stretch of five games in eight days, Campbell, 23, could make his second NHL start before Lehtonen returns, possibly as early as Dec. 2. "We'll take that step when it comes," coach Lindy Ruff said of the goaltending situation after practice Wednesday. "Every team gets challenged with injuries, and here is our first challenge." Dallas also recalled defenseman Patrik Nemeth from Texas after a 14-day conditioning stint. Ruff said defenseman Jason Demers is ready to return after missing the Ottawa game with a lower-body injury. He was back on the second pairing with Johnny Oduya in practice.
