CANADIENS (17-4-2) at DEVILS (11-9-1)

TV: RDS, SNE, MSG+

Season series: The Montreal Canadiens won two of three games against the New Jersey Devils in 2014-15. Canadiens left wing Michael Bournival scored twice in a 4-2 win at New Jersey on Jan. 2; Canadiens center Tomas Plekanec scored twice in a 6-2 win at Montreal on Feb. 7; Devils goaltender Keith Kinkaid made 31 saves in a 3-2 shootout victory in New Jersey on April 3.

Canadiens team scope: Goaltender Mike Condon will start. Carey Price was forced to exit the game against the New York Rangers on Wednesday after aggravating the lower-body injury that forced him to miss nine games this season. "He tweaked it again and that's why we don't want to take any chances," coach Michel Therrien said. "It's still early in the season, so it's important for us that when he plays he's got to make sure he's healthy." Condon replaced Price to start the third period and made 11 saves in a 5-1 win at Madison Square Garden. Condon started all nine games Price missed and Montreal went 5-2-2. The Canadiens will likely recall goalie Dustin Tokarski from St. John's of the American Hockey League to serve as Condon's backup.

Devils team scope: The Devils did not practice Thursday. Right wing Kyle Palmieri missed the final 8:14 of the first period of a 2-1 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday after taking an inadvertent elbow to the face from defenseman Ryan Murray. Palmieri returned to action to start the second and played the remainder of the game with a full face shield. He had an X-ray taken after the game and is questionable. "I think I might have got him with my elbow," Murray said. Palmieri said after the game that he felt fine. Forward Patrik Elias, who missed the first 20 games with a right knee injury, made his season debut on Wednesday and took 20 shifts and had two shots on goal in 14:50 of ice time. "I thought it was a good first game for [Elias] to come back," coach John Hynes said. "He looked good, quick, and I thought he was really smart the way he managed his shifts. He even got to play some special teams, and he had a good work ethic."
