Lou Lamoriello, who resigned as president of the New Jersey Devils on Thursday and was quickly named general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, said he has no plans to bring anyone from his former team's staff with him to his new job, the Bergen Record reported Friday.
That includes his son.
Chris Lamoriello is the Devils' senior vice president of hockey operations; he has been GM of the franchise's American Hockey League affiliate team for the past 14 seasons. He's been with New Jersey for a total of 18 seasons.
"Chris is a New Jersey Devil and he's a good hockey person," Lamoriello told the Record. "His fate is in Ray's hands," referring to Devils general manager Ray Shero, who replaced Lamoriello as New Jersey's GM on May 4.
Lou Lamoriello retained the title of president until he resigned to become GM in Toronto.
Chris Lamoriello's role is likely to change if remains with the Devils. On Friday, New Jersey named Tom Fitzgerald as assistant GM; part of Fitzgerald's responsibilities are likely to include overseeing the Albany Devils of the AHL.
