It appears Mike Babcock is bringing a friend along with him to Toronto.

According to Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News, Jim Hiller - Babcock's assistant with the Red Wings - will join the Maple Leafs' coaching staff next season.

@tkulfan : Jim Hiller will join Babcock in Toronto. Hiller ran the power play and did so effectively this season with the Red Wings.

Hiller was named assistant coach of the Red Wings on July 30, 2014, joining Tony Granato and Andrew Brewer as coach Babcock's support staff.

Hiller had been coach of the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League since the 2009-10 season. In 2011-12 he won the WHL coach of the year award and the Brian Kilrea Award as coach of the year in the Canadian Hockey League.

He also played for the Red Wings in 21 games during the 1992-93 season.
