Re: [SurroundSound] Surround Master

I've been using the Surround Master for 6 weeks with a NAD M51 DAC into an Arcam AVR600. I've personally never liked the any of the upmixing formats - at least none that are on the Arcam or Denon receivers i have - although I can't claim to have heard all of them. Mostly they just seem to 'smear' sound across the room without that discrete effect that dedicated 5.1 mixes have.
I don't know who Involve Audio's main tester is, I bought on the strength of some positive reviews and in-depth discussion on Quadraphonicquad forum, in which the manufacturers appeared actively involved. Plus I could return the unit after 30 days if I wasn't happy with it.
Fact is, I am happy with what the Surround Master does. The results aren't predictable, sometimes the instruments or voices pulled out into the rears are the least expected (and that's a good thing) but on most material there is a convincing surround effect.
