VANCOUVER -- Tailback Andrew Harris agreed to a contract extension with the Grey Cup-champion B.C. Lions on Thursday.

The Winnipeg native became B.C.'s starting running back midway through this season and finished with 458 yards rushing on 96 carries with a TD. Harris added 30 catches for 395 yards and seven touchdowns.

Harris capped his season by rushing for 65 yards on 10 carries in the Lions' 34-23 Grey Cup win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, including a 19-yard TD run. He was named the game's outstanding Canadian.

"Andrew proved last season that he can be an explosive part of our offence and a big key to our overall success," Lions head coach Mike Benevides said in a statement. "I am very pleased to have him part of our team moving forward and I believe he will continue to grow as a player."

As for Harris, he's anxious for the 2012 season.

"It's been a tremendous year and I really couldn't have asked for anything more," he said. "Getting an opportunity on offence this season and having everything go the way it did was a dream come true.

"To extend my time with the Lions is icing on the cake and I can't wait to get back on the field in 2012."
