MONTREAL -- The Montreal Alouettes have signed two local players chosen in this year's CFL draft -- second pick Anthony Barrette and fourth pick Renaldo Sagesse.
The six-foot-five, 320-pound Barrette, an offensive tackle from Concordia University, signed a three-year contract. The six-foot-four, 279-pound Sagesse is a defensive lineman from the University of Michigan. Both are from Montreal.
"It's a great day for the Alouettes when we can draft and sign local talent," general manager Jim Popp said Thursday in a statement.
The club also signed two-year deals with defensive back Jeff Hecht of the St. Mary's Huskies, and defensive end Alan-Michael Cash from North Carolina State. They also confirmed earlier reports that Erik Clanton, a star rush end from The Citadel, has signed.
The Alouettes camp opens June 4 in Sherbrooke, Que.
