Playoffs or no playoffs, expect Ron Wilson to be back behind the bench for the Toronto Maple Leafs next season.
Leafs general manger Brian Burke told the Globe and Mail Wednesday, "Ron is coaching this team next year," and added Wilson has "done a marvelous job."
The Leafs have been one of the NHL's best teams since the all-star break. The Buds have compiled a 22-13-6 record since Jan. 1 as they have gone on an unexpected playoff run that appears likely to come up short.
Entering play on Wednesday, Toronto trailed the eighth-place Buffalo Sabres, whom they beat 4-3 Tuesday night, by five points with just five games to play.
