Luongo (personal) will rejoin the team Friday, but he will serve in a backup role for that night's game against the Stars, the Vancouver Province reports.
Luongo will get Friday night off after attending the birth of his son Wednesday. Luongo will likely be back between the pipes when the Canucks take on the Avalanche on Sunday.
