TORONTO -- The Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan Roughriders dominated the CFL's awards for September.
Roughriders quarterback Darian Durant was named the offensive player of the month while teammate Andy Fantuz captured the top Canadian honour.
Argonauts defensive end Ronald Flemons earned the defensive honour and Toronto kick returner Chad Owens was named the top special teams player in September.
Durant led the Roughriders to a 3-1 record this month while collecting 1,387 yards and five touchdowns with a 62.9 per cent completion rate. A unanimous selection for the award, Durant also rushed the ball 19 times for 152 yards and one touchdown.
Fantuz, a receiver from Chatham, Ont., had 22 receptions for 449 yards and one touchdown during the month. He was also a unanimous selection.
Flemons recorded 22 tackles, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, two pass knockdowns and one tackle-for-loss over four games in the month.
He beat out B.C. linebacker Solomon Elimimian and Calgary linebacker Juwan Simpson for the honour.
Over four games in September, Owens tallied 639 kick return yards and one punt return touchdown.
Lions kicker/punter Paul McCallum was the runner-up.
