The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Benoit Pouliot to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.
The 23-year-old left-winger from Alfred, Ont., arrived in Montreal in a trade with the Minnesota Wild in November that sent Guillaume Latendresse the other way.
The six-foot-three, 199-pound Pouliot had 15 goals, three of them being game-winners, and nine assists in 39 games with the Canadiens.
Pouliot was drafted fourth overall by Minnesota in 2004 and will enter his fifth season in the NHL.
Financial details about the contract were not disclosed.
