FX is placing their Trust in Donald Sutherland.
The prolific actor will star in FX's 10-episode limited series Trust as J. Paul Getty, patriarch of the Getty family oil dynasty. Sutherland's character is described as a mysterious and contradictory man, but is most notably famous for negotiating the release of his ransomed grandson.
Set in 1973, Getty's grandson, John Paul Getty III, is kidnapped and held for ransom by the Mafia while visiting Rome. The show follows the struggle of Paul Getty at the hands of his bewildered captors. (The Italian police believe the kidnapping is a prank, and with both Paul Getty's dad and grandfather involved with their own problems, his mother is left as negotiator to the desperate captors.)
Sutherland's previous TV roles include Commander in Chief, Dirty Sexy Money, The Pillars of the Earth and Crossing Lines.
